Yamaichi Special Steel Co, Ltd, is historically a trading company (“Sogo Shosha”), a family business established in 1927 in Nagoya whose main activity is the supply of special steel for the automotive industry. Today managed by Motoharu “Mike” Teranishi, third generation, the company has followed a process of diversification of its activities since the early 2000s: Machining, Heat Treatment, Precision Measurement, Additive Manufacturing, etc.. Each of these activities has been invested with top-of-the-range and often unique equipment on Japanese soil. To date, Yamaichi has expanded to Japan (5 production sites), Vietnam and Thailand with a sales office.

By first deciding to collaborate with PRISMADD in 2016, creating PRISMADD Japan, and subsequently understanding the strategy of complementarity with WEARE Aerospace and its own activities and markets, Mike wanted to open the doors of his family business to the group in order to create WEARE Pacific.

So by capitalizing on Yamaichi Special Steel’s know-how, we were able to go even further and create a new Materials business unit. Thanks to first-class capabilities in Japan, stemming from the automotive market, and developing partnerships enabling us to create a new regional player capable of supplying material to our production plants.
